Trade Scoring Engine
Each item in the scanner is rated from 0 to 100. This score represents trading desirability based on raw efficiency, volume velocity, and safety metrics:
- Net Margin Scaling (0-70 pts): Spreads below 1% earn minimal points. Spreads between 1% and 5% scale up quickly. Margins above 5% earn the full 50-70 base points.
- Volume Multiplier: The score scales down heavily if the 7-day daily traded volume is low (Low Liquidity) to prevent buying items you cannot sell.
- Deviation Modifiers (-15 to +20 pts): Compares the current spread with the 7-day average. If the spread is significantly wider, it rewards the score (Good Entry Window). If the spread is compressed, it penalizes it.
- Speculation Protection: If an item's current buy price is >10% higher than the weekly traded maximum, it is flagged as Price Spike and heavily penalized.
Market Status Flags
Tags highlight key entries or potential hazards so you can trade safely:
- Good Entry Window: Current margin is wider than the 7-day average margin. Great time to list orders.
- Trap / Scam Risk: The spread is exceptionally wide, but the item has near-zero actual sales. Typically indicates a margin manipulation scam.
- Price Spike: Current Jita buy price is abnormally higher than the highest trade price from the last 7 days. High risk of a bubble collapse.
- High Competition: The average age of the top 5 Jita buy orders is under 30 minutes. Be prepared for constant outbidding.
- Chill Competition: The average age of the top 5 buy orders exceeds 4 hours. Quiet market, easy to get filled.
Outbid Warn States
The Active Orders tab compares your outstanding Jita 4-4 orders against the market frontier and groups them into three states:
- Holding Top (Green): Your order is currently at the optimal bidding or selling price. No action required.
- Chill Outbid (Yellow): Competitors have outbid you, but the outstanding volume ahead of you is minimal (less than 5 units OR less than 5% of active depth). It is safe to remain passive and avoid relisting fees.
- Buried (Red): You are outbid by a significant competitor volume (at least 5 units AND at least 5% of active depth). You should adjust your price to get filled.
ESI Cache Timings
EVE Online's API uses aggressive CDN caching. Knowing these intervals helps explain delays in data updates:
- Daily Market History (24 hours): Daily transaction summaries (volumes, ranges) are generated by CCP once per day, typically updating shortly after daily server downtime.
- Active Order Books (5 minutes): Regional item listings cache for 300 seconds. Scanner price updates update in this increment.
- Character Active Orders (20 minutes): Outstanding character order listings cache for 20 minutes in CCP's server network.
- Wallet Ledger (30 minutes): Character transactions cache for 30 minutes. Realized profit calculations update about 30 minutes after sales.
